surfboard ? i'm 5'4 an ben surfin for 1 yr. i want to mov down to a 5'6 board from a 5'8. i surf in Newport (socal), ive ben lookin @ some boards but i cant find any even @ the surfshop.

I am on my surfboard... I spot a 4m shark approaching me what do I do? Ok somehow I have found myself in deep water.. don't ask me how I managed to be 100m from shore... maybe a strong rip? I can see the bottom due to the clarity of the water. I am laying on my surfboard and I suddenly spot a 4m shark approaching me about 10 metres away. What do I do? do I make sure my limbs are completely on the surfboard and wait for the shark to make the first move hoping it will bite the board instead of me. Or do I jump off the surfboard and start going crazy and swinging my fists widly at the shark? OR do I jump off the surfboard and put the surfboard between the shark and myself and attempt to fight it? this sounds easier said than done. I am thinking of putting a flip knife in my wetsuit too... What do I do? I had a bad vision about this happening to me.. need answers.. can I have some real answers besides saying goodbye? humans have fought off attacks from great whites before... just wondering what the best thing I can do is? I know that Laura.... humans don't make a good appetite for a shark. But if worse comes to worse... we need to know how to handle such situations you just never know... you may end up in a situation like this especially if you love surfing like I do.

Surfboard and surf lesson for beginners? I am looking to start learning surfing this summer. 1. What is the best type of surfboard for someone like me with no experience at all? I learnt that there are different types such as soft surfboard and other types. 2. What is the best length of board shoud I start with? 3. What is the best and efficient way to get started? If I start taking private lessons, how many lessons is it likely to require until I can be at least by myself? I have 6 years experience of snowboarding. 4. Any other advice is welcome!

Good surfboard? Okay....i know liek practically nothing about surfboards...and i want to buy my GF a surfboard...she is a avid surfer, she gets up at liek 5 and goes out and surfs...but i want to get her a new one like a billabong board or something where online can i find these?

Problems with my SURFboard...Help??? Um...I'm having some problems with my internet and I think it might have to do with my SB5120 SURFboard...I can still surf the internet, but then it just takes way too long to load and then it just stops altogether...On the SURFboard, all the lights except standby are on...powers fine...online is fine...but the receive send lights are blinking and I don't think they're supposed to be doing that...I pressed the standby button then all the other lights are off...except the receive and send lights...I honestly have no idea what's going on with this thing...Help?...Oh, and is the pc/activity light supposed to be orange or green???

Where can I find (or make!) a "silver surfer" surfboard for a costume? I'm looking for a surfboard to use for a costume party. I'll be going as the silver surfer. I'm pretty sure I will not find a silver surfboard anywhere, but was looking to spray or paint a cheap (and not real!) surfboard to do the job. Is there anywhere I can purchase a foam or inflatable surfboard typed item? I've looked at swimming floats, but the largest i've found is 19"/48cm long, and I'd preferably like it larger than that (about 100cm+?) Anywhere I can purchase this? Or any other ideas for making a surfboard? As its for a costume (and I'll be carrying it around all night) it doesn't have to be perfect! Price range, I'm looking for no more than about £20GBP. Also, I am in the UK so preferably stores and websites from the UK, but have time to look further afield. Thanks, Amanda

Surfboard decals? I saw in a surfing magazine once that you could create a decal for your surfboard just from computer paper, I just want to know if anyone has ever heard of this or knows how to do so?

Surfboard Question? Ok so if you have some insihght on my problem help me out. So my parents offered to buy me a new surfboard fro christmas. Ive always been out on my 7'3" gun. Ive been wanting a longboard fot awhile but i havnt seen anything i like. Ive only seen a 10' nose rider that was nicceeeeee. I took a look at my gun again and i started to notice i havnt treated it nicley these past 4 years. Its tanning like crazy and the tail is busted(not even my surf shop thinks its worth repairing). So ive decided to restore it. I wanna get my handy dandy knife out and carefully cut away the fiberglass,sand to expose a whiter surface,get a new finbox,and get a glasser. So: 1. Possible at all? 2.Can i keep my fin plug on or do i have to remove? 3.I have glassed on fins so do they come off when i remove the glass? 4. Overall estimaed price,or should i just get a new board

Surfboard size question...? Hey guys, looking for some help on buying a surfboard. I'm 6ft, 183-189lbs. I'm looking for a short board. I'm a beginner but will pick it up soon and already have been out a couple of times on a long board and cought some waves. I'm in good shape (athletic ability, do skateboarding, snowboarding, Thai boxing, and general fitness). Someone told me that a good rule of thumb is to get a board that's at least 6 inches higher than your height... Wandering if that's true, and just in general, what would be a size good for me if I want to surf on a short board, do a lot of carves, etc.

Choosing the right short surfboard...& Firewire Surfboards?? I am a young advancing surfer. Iam 17, 150 lbs, and 5' 9". I have been surfing a 7' 2" funboard for several months and i think im ready for a shortboard. I will be buying a Flexfire, Firewire surfboard at 6" ft. Motorola SURFboard® Cable Modem SB5120 troubles..HELP? I have a Motorola SURFboard® Cable Modem SB5120 is the model and I just purchased it 3 days ago. (My internet service provider is Comcast) However, I installed the Modem Successfully but everytime I try to access the Internet I get the 403 Forbidden screen, which I don't understand because my PC and Modem are both Brand new. Could it be my incorrect wiring, corrupted modem, or what?! Please help!

I saw this question in a surfing mag and thought it was interesting, expect the full question was asking if you you could transform into a surfboard for a week and keep all of your senses what famous surfer would be be the board of and what do you think you would learn from a proceptive of a surfboard that will affect your surfing ability. Paddling a surfboard with a kayak paddle?? Standup, long board paddling has seen a huge surge in popularity since Lair Hamilton showed up at Malibu with a paddle in one hand and a surfboard in the other. "Long Lines" Surfboard Larry Bold? I obtained a 1978 Long Lines surfboard,the logo is in the center of the board and is a wave breaking both right and left it is a laminate but the logo looks like a pencil or pen and ink sketch. It is a single fin has a solid colored redish stringer and on it is written LARRY w/squiggly arrows on either side and further down the stringer it looks like BOLD 6-19-78. The lady I got the board from said Mark Richards gave her the board,(I have no ideal as to how valid that is). It is in excellent shape and is what I would call a typical 70s type shape.The bottom is a light green/blue color and the top has rails the same color,but with resin pin stripes along the rails and a white deck.
