Any surf spots on Lake Michigan near chicago? Okay, so I saw this surfing documentary about people surfing on the great lakes. I've got some surf magazines and did a little research and it seems every spot I have found someone mention is in Michigan. Because on any given day you never really know if the surfs gonna be good I'd hate to drive several hours to find out there's no waves. I live near Chicago in a suburbs a few minutes west. I was wondering if anyone knows of any surf spots on lake michigan? Also, what's the best time of year...I hear falll and winter? Your all wrong about not being able to surf lakes. In addition to oceans there's also lake surfing and river surfing. I hear on Lake Michigan you need to be in parts of Indiana or Michigan to surf the lake. I also believe it's generally only in fall and even moreso winter that you get the big wave so you need a reall thick wetsuit. If you go on youtube you can see people surfing lakes so your all wrong, I was just wondering if anyone knew of a good spot.

Any surf music lovers out there? I absolutely love surf music. Surf music always puts me in a good mood. Surf guitar is always fresh sounding and guitarists like Dick Dale were amazing. However, if I ever mention surf music to other people they will always mention the Beach Boys and nobody else since they don't really listen to surf music.

Good Surf destinations? what is up everyone. I live in Corpus Christi, TX and i surf as much as possible. I have surfed pretty much only in TX, I have surfed a few times in Cali on like knee to waist high waves nothing special at all. And i am wanting to take a surf trip somewhere close to the US, but doesn't have to be in the US. Since I have never really surfed anything over 4 feet overhead, I want the waves to be around waist to head and preferably rights. So if anyone knows any really good spots. Time of the year really doesn't matter to me I haven't decided when i am going to go yet but it will be in the next year. I was saying 4ft overhead as in waves that are around 10 feet.

Surf in Malaysia? Kuantan? Board Rental and Access? OK - I've heard you can surf on Malaysia's beautiful east coast. I've never been there myself but I want to make it up there to surf. I would love to get info on how you can rent a board and get to the beach (say, if I took a bus from Singapore) if you don't drive! It doesn't have to be Kuantan (though I read some places it's got the best surf), any good spot closer to Singapore would also be GREAT. Is surf fishing better/worse in high surf? I've just started surf fishing and don't know if I should bother fishing during high surf conditions? Is the fishing bad in high surf or is it the same?

Nude Surfing? Obviously on a Nude Beach! Good Surf or Uncomfortable? I love to go to the beach and surf and skimboard. But i always wondered if it would be more comfortable to go to a nude beach, and just be able to chill not having to dry off all the time, and being uncomfortable while my bathing suit squishes up when i am sitting on my board. Is it comfortable surfing nude? Tell me about your experience surfing nude.

Surf board questions!!!!? Ok, so I just recently got back into surfing (i surfed when I was younger) and I'm really liking it so far. For my birthday ( which is in a little less than a year (or even before my birthday) I would like a new or used nice quality surfboard. I've been riding on a wood and soft top long board. But are short boards better? I would like a short board just because they seem to be the boards that I could learn tricks on and stuff like that ( they are also what a lot of other surfers have ). What would be the right choice for me? And does anyone know good surf shops that sell new or used surfboards in southern California? Possibley even customized boards? With good prices?

surfing question please answer? anyone dont havto surf? hey i live in australia, on the gold coast where like its a lifestyle to surf its all about the beach... anyway my mum and dad are both surfers and my brother and i was the gymnast and my dad wants me to learn surfing ummm im 15 and my friend and i have surfer b4 but we onley ride the wave in to the shore not along the wave soo what do you think should i learn i wanto but i dont no if its silly or not would i be any good learning at this age, im an all round sports girl really what do you think by the way im not just doign this cause of my fmaily i just really wanto learn btu be good hahah umm well yeh we are just one of those beach familys i guess and i just wanto do it so bad now

Surf Spot in NEW JERSEY? Dont know where LBI or ELSEWHERE??? I am looking for some places to go and hit up some half way desent surf. I cannot find a place that consistently has good surf. I would like to hear from some people that are local or people that come to vacation and surf. Thanks in Advance I am looking for like a specific spot. I have been to LBI and Seaside. I am looking for where the sandbar is at. I would love to hear from so locals. I wont blow the spot up ill just stop by once and a while to hit up some waves.

Surf and Bachelor party in Los Cabos, Baja California? We're looking to take our friend on a surf trip for his bachelor party (he's more into experience stuff than bars, etc). The trip would be over an extended weekend, and we know nothing about surfing. I would like to find the cheapest and easiest option possible, knowing that some exceptions will have to be made. The best place would be one we could get to easily from the airport, and be in or close to a beach that provides lessons. I found the Cabo Surf Hotel online (www.cabosurfhotel.com), but I'm thinking that might be too expensive. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

Best Surf City to Live on the East Coast?? My boyfriend and I are planning to move in Oct of this year. We live in VA now and are planning to stay on the East Coast. He surfs, and I need to be somewhere that I am not going to have to commute a long way to work (property management). I don't want to live in Florida, I would preferably like to go to N. or S. Carolina. Can anyone recommend a surf city that they have lived in?? I have researched many and visited a lot, but i would like someones honest opinion who has actually been there... seen the surf... worked, and paid a mortgage. Thank you so much, any thing helps! :)

San Diego area surf fishing? im going to be staying in Las playas de Tijuana for a few months (february-april) and i was wondering what to use for bait there when surf fishing during this time period. obviously surf fishing is different than pier fishing, but as far as i know, there arent any piers in Las Playas, so i will be confined to surf fishing (unless i take a day to go fishing in San diego, but thats besides the point) so basically my question is, what should i use for bait for surf fishing in the san diego area, and what can i expect to catch? thanks for the help!

A surf question? I have never surfed and I will probably never surf until the next 5 years cuz I don't live in a place near the ocean and I don't have any stuff needed. I love watching it though... could u tell me if I what's the maximal age u can learn it? Is for example 20 years old OK to learn to surf? Or is it too difficult?... How do you find people who surf? My friend asked me to start surfing this summer. Although she ended up not doing it, I fell in love with surfing and I kept doing it. I kept going by myself for two weeks, and she thought it's dangerous. Then, she introduced me to some Japanese people who have been surfing about a year and half, and they are really nice. But I feel like I segregate other people b/c I speak Japanese to them (and I am fluent in English!). So I kinda want to meet more people to go surfing with me just to watch my back if anything happens. All of my surfer friends are either "TOO GOOD to surf with ya!" or "I am too busy" or "I live in OC. It' far from LA". *sigh* I just wonder how people find other people to go surfing with....I guess you simply ask your friends? But everyone is so busy and schedules don't match sometimes. Isn't it better to know more people? Isn't it dangerous to go by yourself? Just wondering...if there is a website or something to find out if a girl like me is out there...

Overnight surf camps in Texas???? I've been wanting to learn how to surf, and was hoping if there were any low-priced overnight or day surf camps in South Padre Island, Galveston, Port Aransas, or anywhere else. Rockin Fig Surf Music from KROQ Radio? I listen to KROQ 106.7 here in LA and Rockin Fig does the surf report every weekday @ 7:30. Not the background song that he plays now but before, I was wondering who the song was. I think it is better then the one he has now as far as surf music goes. I'm not into surf music but that one did catch my liking. I heard it was from The Shadows? I actually did email Bean, he always emails me back but he didn't know. Emailed Dave KOM but he said it was before his time so he didn't know. Kevin, Ralph, Mike, Lighting never emailed me back. I don't see anywhere on kroq or Rockin Fig store site how to get in contact with him. I'll keep trying some how.

Learning to Surf? So, I've been bodyboarding for the past 7 years or so, and I think i want to switch to surfing. The only problem is I don't have a longboard, all I have are 2 shortboards & I've heard that when people learn to surf they use a longboard. Would i be able to learn how to surf on a shortboard? Will it be extremely hard? What size surfboard should i ride (I'm about 5'7 or 5'8)
