Motorola SURFboard® SB5100 modem help!!!!!!?

i have Motorola SURFboard® SB5100 modem and i brought a router the other week but the net work plug broke ages ago and i have been looking for a new one but cant find any and i cant get one over the net. so i was wondering if i got a part that made a usb prot in to a network port would i be able to use the router?

  1. the ethernet port on the back of the modem broke, or the network cable broke? If the network cable broke, just go get a new cable, your cable company will probably give you one for free if you go and ask them. If the ethernet port on the back of the modem is broken or damaged, then you're probably wanting some type of USB to Ethernet adapter. They do make an adapter that will change ethernet to usb, but I haven't seen one that goes the other way around (and if they do, and you use one, you're likely to have a lot of trouble with it anyway) If you own the cable modem and can't just get it replaced by your cable company, you might want to see if they will lease you one for little to no cost. If that isn't an option, I would return the router, and buy a Gateway instead. A gateway will work as the cable modem and router all in one unit, and probably be a lot easier all the way around.
