Motorola SURFboard® Cable Modem SB5120 troubles..HELP?
I have a Motorola SURFboard® Cable Modem SB5120 is the model and I just purchased it 3 days ago. (My internet service provider is Comcast) However, I installed the Modem Successfully but everytime I try to access the Internet I get the 403 Forbidden screen, which I don't understand because my PC and Modem are both Brand new. Could it be my incorrect wiring, corrupted modem, or what?! Please help!

- You need to register the modem with the ISP
- Call comcast and have them make sure the modem is "activated". Also, make sure you are directly connected to the modem (remove any routers or network equipment) so Comcast can troubleshoot any connectivity. I'm assuming you are connecting to the Internet on a different pc or via dial up to post this message.
- This is the same modem I use, received it when I signed up for comcast. When you plug in the modem and power it on, do all the LEDs come on? If they do then you have a good connection, if they do not then you have a problem from the provider.
- Try unpluging the power for 1 minute & shut down the pc during this time. Then plug it back in and wait for the four lights to light up and the fifth is blinking then restart your pc if this don't work call your isp
- First step is to check the lights on the modem and verify that it is configured to connect to comcast. You might have to call them and they can verify whether or not they see the device based on the mac or hardware address that should be listed on the device in this format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. Once you have verified your modem is connected to comcast you should be able to connect it to your pc via an ethernet cable. Typically your modem should lease an ip to your pc directly which you can verify by going to start->run-> type "cmd"-->then type ipconfig to verify you have an ip address. once you verify you have an ip you should be good too go...remember check the lights first they all need to be green..
- is the modem configured for your ISP? the error seems to be caused by a missing or incorrect password/setting. check the paperwork from the modem and from comcast to see what the settings need to be.
- Like said above contact your ISP and then make sure you have set up the connection in windows to allow the internet to be seen through your Network card. You have to tell windows where to look and how to look for it
- Did comcast give you the cablemodem or did you go buy one? If you bought one on your own you'll need to call comcast and register the cablemodem wth comcast in order to use it. If comcast gave to you it should be registered so its probably a setting.
