- when many people use the internet at the same time, it gets slow. nothing you can do about it. you can try moving the laptop closer to the wireless source what is your internet speed? some speeds are slow no matter what.
- depending on your isp, the time of day and week could be why. Some isp's share connections with other people in the neighborhood, so if a lot of people in your area are surfing at the same time, it could be slow.
- Is it only on Friday nights? You're using wireless internet? Is it also being shared? I don't think its your laptop if its just one day a week.
- simple. avg and other free security software produce a truck load of false positives and as a result a bunch of your files get deleted. after that you notice things not working correctly. in your case important files etc needed to run your internet have been deleted. next time buy security software. my question is why shell out a few thousand on a computer protect it with free software? not to smart. would you want all of your personal records, banking accounts protected with free software? I know I wouldnt. you should have never removed norton.
- Over the weekends it will slow down a little bit because there are alot of people on surfing with you, and they all face that annoyance. Like the one guy said try to move your laptop closer to your modem maybe your connection is weak. Its not your computers fault, its the internet wether you surf on internet Explorer, Firefox, whatever its their fault.
- A lot of factors can play into a slow internet connection but here are some things you need to check which you may have forgotten. Make sure you don’t have a load of programs running in the background, particularly ones that use an Internet connection. P2P programs like Limewire and Kazaa often cause extreme bogging and slowness. Right click you task bar and choose task manager - here look at you performance and research each item listed under the processes tab...
